Mayor Honors Award Recipients at Wanamaker Ceremony
Philadelphia Phillies pitcher, Roy Halladay, was awarded with the 2011 John Wanamaker Athletic Award.
The Philadelphia Eagles & the Eagles Youth Partnership were also honored with the Sports Congress’ Robert P. Levy Community Service Award. New to the ceremony this year, the City of Philadelphia’s Parks & Recreation Department presented its first annual Sports Volunteer of the Year Award to the Coaches of the Francisville A’s youth baseball program from Francisville Playground in the Fairmount section of Philadelphia.
Villanova Football, Winners of the 2010 Wanamaker Award
The momentum from their first football national championship continued today as the City of Philadelphia, led by Commissioner of the Department of Parks and Recreation Mike DiBerardinis, and Philadelphia Sports Congress (PSC), a division of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, presented the Villanova University Football Team with the 2010 John Wanamaker Athletic Award at a ceremony at the Wanamaker Building’s Crystal Tea Room.
